Chapter 426 Clearing Her Name
Regrettably, Sierra was rather careless and exposed herself to schemes and setups.
Hayley didn't intend to be a saint and let Sierra off the hook. Instead, she wanted to see whether Sierra had the right to be Theo's wife or not.
At that moment, Douglas managed to find Theo with a waitress' help, who effortlessly closed a business collaboration in a short amount of time.
Theo had just finished signing a contract when Douglas barged in. "I can't believe you're still shooting the breeze here. Sierra stole something, was caught red- handed, and cornered in the party hall."
He was tucking the contract away, but he stopped in his tracks. Frowning, he looked at Douglas, asking, "Who did you say stole something?"
Thinking that Theo didn't hear him, Douglas repeated themself. Then, he added urgently, "Hurry up and head over there. Make her apologize and take her away. Keep her home next time."
Theo cast an icy glance at Douglas before he addressed the CEO next to him, "I'll take my leave now. I'm needed elsewhere."
The old-timer nodded and shook Theo's hand warmly. "Alright. Let's catch up sometime."
Once they were out of the room, Theo stopped in his tracks and looked at Douglas. "How are you sure that Sierra stole something?"
Douglas looked a little lost and responded matter-of-factly, "Melody led the victim to Sierra, and she even put in some words for Sierra. So, I think I'm right about it."
Theo looked at Douglas soulfully, his eyes brimming with disappointment. Then, he headed toward the elevator wordlessly, already figuring out a way to prove Sierra's innocence.
"Theo, what's the meaning of this?" Douglas was rooted to the spot with fear when he saw Theo's gaze. By the time he came back to his senses, Theo was far away. So, he had to rush after Theo.
Then, a soft creak could be heard. Initially, Gordon was having a good time chatting and laughing with his guests. He was so displeased that he almost shouted at John, who opened the door to his private room.
Before he could, however, John asked anxiously, "Mr. Jones, the people downstairs are talking about calling the police. What should we do?"
Gordon was so stunned that he didn't even realize he was spilling the wine in his glass. "What's the matter? Who wants to call the police?"
Before he arrived upstairs, he saw Melody making Sierra apologize to Hayley. In any case, the whole incident wasn't serious enough to warrant the involvement of police.
The Jones family's reputation would be the first to suffer should the police officers actually show up.
"What is Melody thinking? How could she call the police? She's absolutely immature." Gordon frowned, his expression displeased.
John blinked in a daze, feeling surprised. He had heard that Melody was the only heiress to the Jones family.
However, Gordon didn't speak about her the way he should have to his only daughter. He ought to be showering her with love and affection instead.
"Ms. Jones wasn't the one who wanted to call the police. It's Ms. Jenkins and Mrs. Gray."
John didn't have the luxury to figure out how close Gordon and Melody actually were. All he wanted was for Gordon to get downstairs and stop them from calling the police as soon as possible.
If the cops got here, they would definitely find out that he had tampered with the security footage He had essentially set Sierra up and tricke Theo. The Gray family would never let him off the hook for committing either of these crimes. Cóntent
Gordon didn't tell his friends where he was going. Instead, he immediately walked out of the room, telling John, "Spill the beans. How did the two of them gang up together?"
The thief and the victim were on the same side now, which meant that the incident had definitely spun out of control.
By the time John recountednoveldrama
everything swiftly, Gordon's
expression was as dark as coal. Gnashing his teeth, he asked, "Did you just say that Theo proposed to his wife during our banquet and made Melody cry in the process?"
John understood how upset Gordon was. Wearing a sour expression, he nodded and sighed. "Mr. Jones, you can't let them call the police. Otherwise, the hotel's reputation will be ruined."
He was nothing more than a hotel manager who helped the actual thief cover her crime. He might've done it under the order of the hotel owner's daughter, but that didn't mean he had the courage to say it out loud.
If John did come clean and admit it, he wouldn't just get fired. He would also be caught in the Jones family's crosshairs.
On the other hand, he couldn't keep quiet about it either. The Jones family would never let someone with no integrity work for them, which meant that he would still get fired.
In fact, he might even get blacklisted by the other entities in the same industry due to his questionable professional ethics. It would make things hard for him to find a new job in the future.
All John wanted now was for someone to clean up the mess as soon as possible. It didn't matter who would apologize to whom in the end, as long as they kept the police out of this.
