Chapter 430 Pay a Visit to the Hospital
Melody was immediately stunned. Frowning, she asked, "Dad, are you telling me to get close to Theo in a professional setting?
"But he separates his personal feelings when it comes to work. You said so yourself. I could spend every single day with him, and he still wouldn't develop feelings for me.'
"
Melody felt a little depressed. She followed Theo around all the time back in college, yet he demonstrated a deep love for Sierra this evening instead.
The stark contrast struck her with a pang of sadness.
Gordon saw how she lowered her head and wallowed in sorrow again. Tapping his arm on the couch's armrest, he asked, "With proximity comes advantage. Don't you know about this?"
She pursed her lips and responded somewhat willfully, "It won't work on him. I tried it on him back in college."
He chuckled gently. Facing her, he reminded her softly, "Back in college, you were nothing more than an heiress with nothing to your name. Naturally, he wouldn't be interested in you.
"But things are different now. You know what they say about men being charming when they focus on work. Well, the same goes for ladies!
"What's more, you shouldn't think about whether he would develop feelings for you. Just stay close to him for now, and an opportunity will fall into your lap."
Gordon didn't say explicitly what opportunity he meant. Melody's mind raced, and she came up with numerous possibilities. Eventually, her eyes sparkled, and her sorrow was long forgotten.
As Gordon and Melody talked about strategies for her to get close to Theo, Sierra received a call from Xavier. William had woken up, and he made a fuss about seeing her.
"Dad insisted that I call you. I refused to do it, but he lashed out at the nurse, Mom, and me." Xavier looked at William, who was throwing a tantrum on his bed, and his eyes were laced with impatience.
Sierra snickered emotionlessly, "He must've said the harshest words when he brought me up."
Xavier didn't respond to that, but she didn't need an answer. William had been ill for a while now, which meant his condition must have stabilized. It was time for her to proceed with the next step of her plan.
"I'll drop by the hospital tomorrow. Tell him to behave himself." She lowered her gaze and added calmly, "Look after Mom. Make sure she's safe."
Theo waited until she lowered her phone and asked, "Was that Xavier?"
Sierra nodded in response, her eyes flickering as the car drove on. "William wants to see me."
They could guess the reason William wanted to see her. She had long given up on him. Naturally, that spared her from disappointment.
"Just as well," she added calmly. "I want to meet him too."
Theo held Sierra's hand and felt the ring on her finger, and a wave of joy washed over him. "How about I go with you?"
"That's not necessary." Sierra shook her head, wanting to resolve this issue on her own.
Theo didn't push it. Instead, he mentioned warmly, "We'll have a proposal ceremony next time."
She was a little surprised. She brought her ring finger to his eyes and asked, "Didn't you do that already?"
He lowered her hand and smiled helplessly. "It was all too sudden this time, and I didn't prepare anything. Actually, I asked Adrian to prepare a venue for us, but I didn't get to use it."
"Although I didn't get to see every surprise you prepared for me, I managed to get rid of Melody for you. So, the night did end well, she said cheerfully. Then, she gave him a sidelong glance.
Sierra was looking at it from a woman's perspective. Melody might've loved Theo deeply, but she had just witnessed him proposing to Sierra.noveldrama
That would leave Melody with no choice but to give up on him.
What Sierra never expected was just how terrifying an obsessed person could be. Sometimes, people become fixated on something that they could never get and even cause harm to others.
Theo thought about the unexpected disaster that had happened to Sierra and apologized, "I'm sorry you have to go through this."
Melody had stirred up trouble with Sierra twice ever since she returned to the country.
He wouldn't tolerate it a third time.
The next day, Sierra found her old suit that she chose to wear to work. It was a black pants with a matching blazer and a classic white shirt underneath. Her pair of high heels was black as well. '
What do you think?
