Bride To Be Not Me (Janice and Simon)

Chapter 169

Janice's and Edward's eyes met.

Janice asked first, "Why aren't you asleep yet?"

"I can't sleep."

"Insomnia?"

"Yeah."

She walked over and stood beside him. "What's on your mind?"

Edward lowered his gaze, looking down at her. "Earlier, you said you missed me."noveldrama

Wait... He was still thinking about that?

Janice tilted her head, absently pinching her earlobe. "Mm... Yeah, I did."

"Then why didn't you call me? Not even once?"

She frowned slightly. "Why would I call you?"

Edward leaned back against the round table behind him, one long leg planted firmly on the floor. "How else was I supposed to know you missed me? If you had told me earlier, I would've come back sooner."

"But... we're seeing each other now, aren't we?" She averted her gaze slightly.

To her surprise, Edward reached out and gently grasped her wrist, guiding her to look at him.

"Say it again."

"What?"

His lips curved slightly, but the quiet stillness of the night made his presence feel heavier, more intense. His voice was low, almost coaxing. "Say you missed me."

Janice took a slow breath. "You're so-"

"Hmm?"

She hesitated. But after everything that happened tonight, she was in a good mood.

After two or three seconds of silence, she adjusted the outer layer of her pajama robe, then leaned forward slightly until their eyes were level.

"Edward."

His gaze remained steady, unwavering. "Yeah?"

"You were gone for so many days... I missed you."

As soon as the words left her mouth, Janice turned and walked straight back to the guest room, closing the door behind her.

Edward remained where he was, staring at the closed door. Slowly, he placed a cigarette between hisdips and it it. There was no way he was getting any sleep tonight.

The package from Shirley arrived the very next day.

Heidi frowned. "That fast?"

When she opened the box, she was stunned. Inside was an official international championship souvenir an award pin given to the

winner of the Best Seamstress

Award. A brooch shaped like a crochet needle was elegantly placed inside a beautiful crochet box.

This was a symbol of the highest status in the seamstress world.

She hadn't expected Shirley to be this generous, to actually send something so valuable to a fan.

"Heidi?"

Amelia walked in just in time to see the brooch. "That's gorgeous. I think it's some kind of crochet award, right?"

As she spoke, a memory surfaced. Back when she had tried to get close to Simon, she had briefly looked into the crochet industry.

Amelia's eyes widened in shock. "Wait... Isn't this the pin they give to the Best Seamstress Award winner?"

Heidi crossed her arms smugly. "Still doubting I'm Shirley now?"

Amelia nodded frantically, picking up the brooch and examining it for a long moment before finally setting it down.

After Amelia left, Amber leaned in, casually mentioning something crucial, "Ms. Ryan, this package was sent locally."

Heidi's smile stiffened.

So, Shirley was most likely from Greenfield City?

A thrill shot through her.

él

Heidi was desperate to establish a connection with Shirley. She was certain that once she found her, winning her over wouldn't be difficult. Be it money or power, Shirley had to care about one of them. And once she had Shirley's support, she could crush Janice completely.

By then, Edward would finally see the truth that being with her was the right choice.

Without Edward, Janice would hit rock bottom. She'd sink into the mud with no way back up.

The thought sent a thrill through Heidi. Victory was so close that she could almost taste it.

She turned to Amber, urgency sharpening her voice. "Hurry and contact the delivery guy! See if you can track down the sender's address!"
