Alis’s lips curled into a small smile as she felt a flicker of relief for Evie. Having worked alongside her for so long, Alis had come to understand that despite Evie’s outwardly cheerful, sunny personality—always shining bright in the company—there was a subtle fragility and loneliness that seeped through her voice when she was singing. Alis couldn’t be sure if that description was entirely accurate, but to her, Evie seemed like the kind of girl who spread joy while quietly hiding her sorrow. Looking at Waylon, she said, “Since Evie’s agreed to have you with her, I’ll send you a copy of her upcoming schedule. You can get yourself acquainted with the assistant’s duties.”

Later, Evie returned to Edge Entertainment to take care of some work. When she heard that Madisyn was also in the office, she made her way to her office to say hello.

“I haven’t seen you in ages! I’ve missed you so much, Madisyn.” In Madisyn’s presence, Evie felt an overwhelming sense of acceptance and warmth, something that always brought out her softer, more playful side.

“Oh, by the way, I bought gifts for you and my brother when I went out of town for filming, but I didn’t bring them today. I’ll make sure to bring them next time.”

Madisyn smiled, her gaze softening as she looked at the adorable Evie.

“Your little gifts can wait, but I’ve got a new song I wrote just for you. It’s right here, and you can take it with you.” Madisyn handed Evie a notebook.

“Thank you!”

Evie’s excitement bubbled over as she eagerly opened the notebook.

Every song Madisyn wrote for her was nothing short of perfect, and Evie couldn’t help but hum along to the melody in her head.

When Madisyn saw the joy in Evie’s face, her expression softened.

“It’s a relief to see you like this. Your brother and I are both at ease.”

Madisyn replied, “Waylon called us the other day, saying he’d upset you and wanted to make things right. I thought, if someone as sweet as you could be angry with him, then he must have really messed up. Your brother didn’t say much, but I could tell he was just as worried about you. We didn’t bring it up at the time because we didn’t want to upset you further.” Madisyn smiled gently, feeling reassured seeing Evie in a good mood. Her cheeks were flushed with color, and she had clearly gained some weight, a sign of her healthy state.

“So Waylon called you,” Evie murmured, her hands clutching the notebook, the glimmer in her eyes slowly dimming.

“You should get back to work. I’ll leave now.”
