Don’t Fall for the Billionaire Lover

Chapter 925

Connor spoke up, "It's in the genes."

Chloe's real identity as the Shaw family's biological daughter was still under wraps from the public. Even Dr. Goodman was in the dark about it, which left him momentarily taken aback. But soon enough, they shifted their focus back to Chloe's medical condition.

"Is it serious?" Connor asked, concern etching his voice.

Dr. Goodman examined the scan with a deep intensity, his eyes fixed on it for what felt like forever. Finally, he broke the silence. "I can't give a definite answer right now. This is my first time seeing her scan. If this cerebral vascular tumor hasn't shown any growth over the years, it doesn't appear too worrying at the moment."

Connor suddenly remembered something. "I've got another scan. Could you have a look at it?"

Quick as a flash, Connor had Teddy fetch another MRI scan, one that belonged to Chloe as well. Back when they were rescued, Chloe had spent two days and nights unconscious in the hospital. During her stay, a full examination was done, but nothing out of the ordinary turned up back then. The only thing noted was a suspected shadow on her brain scan, which the doctor guessed might have been due to her moving during the test.

Dr. Goodman looked at the retrieved brain scan and asked, "When was this taken?"

"Three months ago," Connor replied.

Dr. Goodman studied it closely, his brow furrowing deeper with each passing second. Connor felt his nerves tighten like a drawn bowstring. Finally, Dr. Goodman set the scan down and took off his glasses.

"Mr. Connor, to be frank, the outlook isn't promising," he said, his words heavy with concern.

Connor felt a weight settle on his chest. "What do you mean?"

"Initially, today's scan didn't show the vascular tumor as particularly large, and since you mentioned Chloe hasn't had any adverse reactions, I didn't think it warrantednoveldrama

immediate concern. But wolnet

compare it with the scan from three months ago, the tumor's growth is evident. It seems to be influenced by the pregnancy."

Outwardly, Connor remained composed, but his calm exterior belied the seriousness of the situation. He asked bluntly, "Should we terminate the pregnancy?"

Dr. Goodman paused, searching for the right words. "I can't decide that for you. All I can say is that the pregnancy hormones are indeed affecting the tumor's growth. Even if you choose to end the pregnancy now, there's no guarantee it will prevent complications. It would only lower the risk."

Dr. Goodman's face was marked with worry. "This condition wasn't meant to accommodate a pregnancy. It's unfortunate it was discovered too late."

Chloe was already five months along, and advising a termination wasn't straightforward. Yet, continuing the pregnancy was undeniably risky. The physical changes pregnancy brings are no small matter.

Connor skipped the office that day,

and he didn't head home either.

After leaving the hospital, he found himself on a park bench in the nearby square, holding the report, lost in thought for the entire afternoon. He watched as the sun. slowly sank below the horizon and the sky transitioned to night, with streetlights flickering to life all around him.

The park buzzed with evening activity, mostly young couples out for a stroll, and families with kids in tow. Connor observed the men and women pushing strollers, and a profound, indescribable ache filled him. It was like his heart had plunged into scalding S water-twisting, breathless, sharp, and unrelenting, wrapped in searing pain, leaving him feeling as if his heart might stop.

When he finally rose, it was as if all strength had left his body. Yet, he

remembered his promise to Chloe, to pick her up that evening and take her out for

a spicy hot pot dinner.

Connor quickly made his way to the QUEEN Corporation building, determined to keep his word.
