It wasn't the weekend, and students were attending their evening self-study sessions. After a brief conversation at the school gate and reaching out to a former teacher, they were finally granted entry.

However, they were instructed not to disrupt the students' studies. At night, the tree-lined path on campus lacked the fresh and pleasant feel it had during the day. The old buildings and towering trees created an eerie atmosphere, which was intensified by the unsettling vibe inside the car.

As the car slowed to a quiet glide, a sense of tension arose that a ghost might appear any moment.

Breaking the silence, Luke spoke first in a somber voice, "Vespera and I used to walk this road every day back in the day."

Dominic responded with a graceful smile, "What? Didn't other students walk this path back then? Were they walking underground or something?"

Luke replied, "What I mean is, we were each other's first loves and were in love at that time."

Dominic said, "I figured as much. You seem to have exhausted all your tricks."

Luke fell silent. The two men glared at each other in the darkness. The atmosphere crackled with hostility, as if the car were haunted by a powerful, malevolent force.

Vespera sat silently while Gerard held his breath, concentrating intensely. The atmosphere was thick with tension.

Suddenly, a furious voice shouted from the front, "Stop the car!"

Gerard's hand shook, causing the vehicle to tremble. But he couldn't stop; it wasn't his president who had given the order, it was Luke.

At that moment, Vespera turned her head and spoke icily, "Luke, don't lose your mind. This is a campus. What did you just promise the teacher? Remember, you're the president of the Eclipse Group. Stop behaving like a child."

Luke leaned forward, his tone softening. "I just want to get out and go for a walk. I'll carry you on my back. Do you remember how we used to..."

Vespera cut him off. "I don't remember. There is no 'we.' The past is gone."

She thought, "In my heart, Luke is dead!"

Luke was hurt by her words and reached out to touch her shoulder. "Vespera, how can you be so heartless?"

But before he could make contact, Dominic blocked his hand. Vespera was so frightened that her heart felt like it was about to leap from her chest, and she instinctively moved closer to the car door.

Dominic held onto Luke's hand. "Even if you strangle her, it won't make her love you again. Mr. Munoz, why can't you accept the truth?"

Luke, feeling both angry and embarrassed, shook Dominic's hand off. Dominic's hand hit the window with a loud thud. The noise made Vespera shiver.

She turned and yelled, "Stop it!"

She feared a fight would break out between Luke and Dominic. Regardless of who was stronger, they would both end up hurt. She couldn't allow Dominic to be harmed. No one was allowed to hurt him.

Despite her anger, she spoke to Luke calmly. "Luke, what did you say outside earlier? Didn't you mention we would drive in and take a look like old friends? Didn't I come in with you? Can you keep your promise? Can you stop throwing a fit?"

Gerard felt his heart leap into his

throat as he thought, "Compared to Mr. Munoz, our president is

preferable. Although the president isnoveldrama

sharp-tongued and cunning, his

emotions are steady! While his

moods are unpredictable, his

emotions remain stable!"

Dominic rubbed the back of his wrist. Watching the woman in front bravely standing up for him, a subtle smile appeared on his face.

Luke was rendered speechless by Vespera's remarks. He pressed his hand against his forehead, trying to regain composure. This wasn't how he had envisioned things unfolding. He had hoped to revisit the place where their attraction first sparked.

This place held many memories, and he couldn't believe she felt nothing. She once loved him. They once loved each other. By now, the car had smoothly passed the tree-lined avenue. As Luke glanced outside, and saw the vast artificial lake. A memory struck him, prompting him to urge Gerard to stop the car.

This time, Dominic instructed Gerard to halt. "Mr. Munoz, this is the last spot on campus. If we go any further, we'll need to turn back. Do you have any last requests... No, just let us know what you want; otherwise, we should head back."
