Chapter 1830
Why did the Bennet family do this?
Fiona casually spoke into the phone to Tyler, "We've got all the design drafts and official verifications sorted, right?"
Tyler thought for a moment before responding confidently, "Yeah, the official verifications are in. I've emailed you the digital copies, and the hard copies are on their way. They should arrive in a couple of days."noveldrama
"Great, let me know when the hard copies get here." Fiona paused, as if something crossed her mind, and added, "Keep a close watch on Vogue International. Let me know if anyone's up to any mischief. Also, hold off on responding to the Montgomery family until I give the go-ahead."
After hanging up, Fiona shut her laptop, leaned back into Jackson's arms, and slipped back into her relaxed demeanor. She shot a quick text to Jane and then turned off her phone.
"Jackson, why aren't you saying anything? Aren't you going to help me figure this out?" She wrapped her arms around Jackson's neck, snuggling into his lap, and playfully pouted, "Hmm! You don't even feel sorry for me."
Jackson rarely saw Fiona like this. He tightened his embrace, a smile creeping onto his face, and whispered softly in her ear, "Fiona is so amazing, even your brother can't keep up."
...
Meanwhile, the Montgomery family was in a complete frenzy, like ants on a hot pan, scrambling for a solution.
To make matters worse, Fiona's phone was off, leaving them to repeatedly call Tyler and Vogue International's headquarters. The whole night, the Montgomery family was on the edge of losing it.
At the same time, Jane was having a meltdown at home. She couldn't believe her dad had pulled such a stunt!
She confronted her father in the living room, gripping an ashtray tightly, and yelled, "Dad, have you even thought about what you've done? busted my butt to earn Fiona's respect and boost the Bennet family's reputation in her eyes, and you just had to mess it all
up!"
Jane's eyes were red with rage, the room a disaster zone, anything breakable shattered into pieces.
Jaxson sat silently on the couch, staring at her in disbelief, wondering how his usually obedient daughter could challenge him like this, seemingly without any regard for him as her father.
"Jane, is this how you talk to your father? He's doing this for the good of the Bennet family. Without these actions, the Bennet family would be overtaken by the Montgomery family, and where would that leave us? How could you continue living like a princess?"
Jane almost laughed in frustration, glancing at the woman beside her-her stepmother-who stood there with her inept son, both critiquing her behavior. "Exactly, Jane. Dad's decision isn't wrong. You're blatantly defying him, and doesn't that make you feel guilty? This is a serious offense!"
One by one, they accused her of being ungrateful!
But a wrong is a wrong, especially when it comes to plagiarism.
"Shut up!"
Jane threw the ashtray to the floor, where it shattered, a shard lightly nicking her stepmother's arm.
"If it weren't for you, my family wouldn't be like this, and my mom wouldn't have died!"
Jane's furious outburst didn't draw any sympathy from Jaxson; instead, it only fueled his resentment.
What do you think?
