Chapter 813 I Can't Leave
Evelyn rushed downstairs, and seeing her in such a hurry, the four children stood frozen by the door, too scared to even breathe.
Evelyn glared at them, "I'll deal with you when I get back."
With that, she opened the door and went out, heading straight for the iron gate. She opened it and stood arrogantly in front of Harper.
She snatched the four baby bottles he was holding and scolded, "Seriously? Stealing baby bottles from kids? Is there anything you won't do?"
Harper felt awkward and tried to explain, "I didn't steal them; the kids gave them to me."
"f kids give you something, you just take it? You're an adult, taking things from kids. People will laugh at you!" Evelyn was furious.
Harper was scheming. She hadn't forgiven him yet, and he was already trying to use Hubert, Boris, Noomi, and Ethan to make her compromise. No way!
Evelyn finished speaking and didn't want to waste any more words with him. She turned and walked back through the iron gate, closing it behind her. Harper followed, nearly getting his nose hit by the gate.
He stood outside the gate, helplessly watching Evelyn's back as she walked away.
Evelyn returned to the living room with the bottles. Hubert, Boris, Noomi, and Ethan exchanged glances and rushed to her, hugging her legs and holding her hands.
"Grandma, don't be mad," Hubert said in her sweet childlike voice.
Noomi chimed in, "Grandma, getting angry will give you wrinkles. We don't want that, do we?"
Evelyn was amused by her words, "You really know how to sweet-talk."noveldrama
The four children pushed her to sit on the sofa, massaging her legs and shoulders, busy as bees. Seeing them like this, Evelyn couldn't stay mad.
She placed the bottles on the table and looked around. Seeing the kids still massaging her, she felt very happy, "You guys are worth all the love."
In the evening, Phoebe returned to Lakeview Estates. As she got out of the car, she saw Harper standing outside swatting mosquitoes. His face and hands were covered in red, swollen bites, looking quite pitiful.
Harper saw her and eagerly said, "Phoebe, you're back from work. Go inside and rest; don't stand out here."
Phoebe had been thinking a lot these past few days. Seeing Harper again, she felt very conflicted, "Mr. Ziegler, you should go back. You know my mom's temper. The more you do this, the less she'll pay attention to you."
Harper was about to speak when he noticed a mosquito on his hand. He slapped it, leaving a bloodstain on his hand where the mosquito had been.
Suddenly, she felt that Harper wasn't so distant. No matter his current status, he was just an ordinary middle-aged man standing in front of her.
She took a tissue from her bag and handed it to him, "Here, wipe it off."
Harper took it, the tissue carrying a faint fragrance. He wiped the mosquito blood off his hand and said, "I know your mom's temper. If I really leave, she'll never talk to me again."
Phoebe was taken aback.
Thinking about it, Evelyn was indeed like that. The harsher her words, the more she was hiding her concern.
She smiled bitterly, "You really understand her. So, are you planning to keep waiting outside?"
"Yes."
Phoebe stood there for a while, not knowing what to say to Harper. This man was her biological father, and even now, it felt surreal.
She really wanted to post on a forum and ask, "What should I do if my biological father, who died over twenty years ago, comes back to life as a millionaire and wants to reconnect with me?"

She pointed towards the door, "Do you want to come in and sit? There are too many mosquitoes outside."
Harper looked at the lit-up villa, feeling a warm longing to be part of it. But Evelyn was still angry, and if he went in, he'd just be kicked out.
Forget it, better to keep some dignity.
"No, I'll wait outside." Harper shook his head at Phoebe, "You go in. You've had a long day at work. Go rest; don't worry about me."
Phoebe pressed her lips together. Not knowing what else to say, she used her fingerprint to open the door and went inside.
Harper watched her back as she walked away, slowly disappearing from sight. He felt a sense of loss, scratched the mosquito bites on his hand, and sat down by the greenery.
Phoebe entered the house, placed her bag on the shoe cabinet, and glanced into the living room. Not seeing Evelyn, she quietly asked Elijah, "Where's my mom?"
"Resting upstairs," Elijah replied.
"Is she feeling okay today?"
"She's fine. Mr. Ziegler sent some gifts this afternoon, which made her quite angry, but the kids have already cheered her up," Elijah answered with a smile.
Phoebe glanced upstairs and walked into the living room. She called Ethan over and picked up the non-toxic mosquito repellent from the table, "Ethan, I have a task for you. Can you do it?"
Ethan puffed out his chest, "Aunt Phoebe, I can do it."
Phoebe handed him the mosquito repellent, "Can you give this to the gentleman standing outside the gate?"

Ethan took the repellent, "I promise to complete the task."
Phoebe patted his shoulder, "Go ahead, but don't go outside the gate. Just pass it to him through the gate and come back, okay?"
"Okay," Ethan replied and ran out.
Phoebe walked to the floor-to-ceiling window. Hubert, Boris, and Noomi were playing with building blocks on the play mat. Just as they finished building a house, Noomi kicked it over.
Hubert quietly started rebuilding, while Boris moved in front of Noomi to block her from causing more trouble.
Seeing Phoebe approach, the two kids quickly stood up and ran towards her.
One after the other, they kicked over the house Hubert had just built, causing him to burst into tears.
Boris and Noomi, however, hugged Phoebe's legs and whined, "Mommy, I missed you so much."
Phoebe tapped their noses, "You two are bullying Hubert again."
Hubert, always generous, stopped crying after a few seconds. Seeing Phoebe, he jumped up and ran to her, reaching out to be held.
Phoebe bent down and picked him up, kissing his tear-streaked face, "Hubert, did you take good care of Boris and Noomi today?"
"Mommy, I did. Can I have a little treat?" Hubert's eyes lit up at the mention of food.
Phoebe nodded, "Yes, go ask Pamela for one. One for each of you, and one for Ethan too."
Hearing there were treats, Hubert, Boris, and Noomi quickly let go of Phoebe and rushed to Pamela, who smiled and took them to the kitchen for their treats. Phoebe stood by the window, looking towards the gate. She saw Ethan give the mosquito repellent to Harper. They exchanged a few words before Ethan quickly ran back.
