My Love Until the Last Goodbye (Mary and Maximus)

Chapter 1139

Even though Lucius and Amanda were already living in Valentia, and even though Anthony had given them a house to live in, the young couple was juggling a lot— married life, their studies, and everything that came with having a baby.

Lucius, albeit reluctantly, had started working with Moriarty. Anyone would've thought he'd join the family business with Maximus Evans, but no-that just wasn't Lucius's style.

At the moment, he preferred working closely with Moriarty, wanting to learn everything he could from him. He had plans for the future, plans to build a career like that man's, to become a judge himself.noveldrama

"Lucius, I'm a little tired. How about we head home after the second-to-last class?" said Amanda, walking slowly.

"What's wrong? Do you feel sick? Where does it hurt?"

"I'm just tired and I want to go home. Can we leave now or after the next class?" she said, sitting down on a bench.

Yeah, being seven months pregnant was no joke—especially with how small she was and how huge her belly looked, like she was carrying triplets.

Lucius crouched in front of her and took both her hands. He looked at her, still in disbelief that in under a year they were already living all of this. He had taken the whole "being a dad" thing seriously-so without wasting time, he stood up and carried Amanda toward the car.

Amanda felt loved by the gesture, but the moment didn't last long. Just as they were nearly at the car, a familiar voice called out.

"So it's true, then?" said a middle-aged man with an imposing presence.

Lucius turned at the sound of that voice, and Amanda turned pale when she saw who it was.

"Dad..." she said, staring at the man in front of them.

"Well, well. I knew you were immature, but getting pregnant before finishing school? God! Just proves you're still the same damn brat-immature and spoiled."

"What the hell do you want, sir? I won't let you talk to my wife like that," said Lucius in a cold, uncharacteristic tone.

"I just came to see for myself how my daughter-yes, my daughter-ruined her life by getting married and having a baby before even finishing her degree and building a career," the man said without a hint of shame.

"Dad... I thought I made myself clear when I left. Even though you manage the trust fund my mother left me, and even though I've never asked you to hand it over..."

"You still have the nerve to come

here, in front of my husband and the love of my life, and spew the same

garbage you never get tired of repeating," said Amanda, climbing down from Lucius's arms and gripping his hand tightly.

"You're a disgrace to the Hayward name! You don't deserve to carry it," the man spat angrily.

"Well, if I could get rid of your damn last name, I would. But guess what? That's not so easy to do here," Amanda shot back.

"I take it you're Amanda's father. Aren't you aware of your daughter's condition For God's sake, you're a doctor of all people, you should know better than to put her through stress. So if you'll excuse me.." said Lucius, shutting the car door

Amanda's side.

"So you're that Lucius Evans! What a disgrace to be linked to a family like yours. But hey, my daughter made her bed when she decided to throw her life away with people like you!"

"Look, Mr. Hayward, your daughter already told me all about you. But let me tell you something-it's best if. you turn around and walk away in Spain you might be whatever you think you are, but here in Valentia, the Evans-or Palmer, take your pick-family holds a lot of power. And just so we're clear, my wife is no longer a Hayward, if that's what

you're worried about."

"She carries my last name now, and she doesn't need you. In fact, even before

marrying me, she didn't need you."

"You insolent brat! But trust me-she'll bring you nothing but misery..."
