No longer a pushover (Noelle and Cedric)

Donovan was furious. "What's your problem, Noelle?"

Noelle retorted, "What exactly has Xenia suffered because of me?"

"You were the one who offended Mrs. Parham just now. Don't think that you can deny what happened just because Mrs. Greene is backing you up."

Noelle's tone was sharp as she continued, "If that's the case, then you've truly offended the Greene family. Do you still wish to survive in Yasnia or not?"

Donovan noticed Xenia's aggrieved expression and replied coldly. "This matter is settled."

Noelle stood firm on her decision. "Like I said, I don't agree!"

Donovan turned to her and replied, "It isn't up to you, Noelle. The foundation hasn't even been handed over to you yet. Let Xenia handle it just for once, and you'll have full authority over the foundation after this. That's enough, isn't it?"

Xenia smirked after hearing Donovan's words. There was no way she would give up on such an opportunity.

Frank stood by Noelle's side. "Donovan, if what you're doing now isn't favoritism, then what is?"

Donovan simply could not stand Noelle's arrogance and wanted to kick her down a notch. "You're all calling me biased, but what I'm doing now is nothing but being fair! What happens to the foundation is still up to me!"

Just then, the door to the lounge was pushed open. Cedric entered the room with a cold expression, having overheard the argument going on inside. He walked straight to Noelle and took her hand.

Cedric then turned to Donovan and said, "So your idea of maintaining fairness is to force Noelle to make compromises? You must be crazy if you think this is anything but fair! It's no wonder you became known as the Cantrell family's live-in son-in-law!"

Noelle was stunned by how brutal Cedric was with his words. The words he had spoken had stabbed Donovan right in the heart with precision.

Noelle's reply immediately seized both Donovan and Xenia by the throat. Donovan forcefully suppressed his anger to gain a moment of clarity. "Fine, but Xenia will still be handling the distribution of the donations."

Noelle replied coldly. "I'll be keeping a close eye on things. We wouldn't want a certain someone to siphon all the funds into their personal accounts, do we?"

Xenia defended herself immediately as if reflecting her guilty conscience. "I won't do that! I'll make sure to do a great job! You can check my accounts whenever you like!"

She could just transfer the money into her father's account. Noelle would never be able to find out that way.

Noelle no longer pressed on further about the foundation, seeing that she had achieved her goal. She had already cast the bait, and all she had to do now was wait for her target to bite.

She looked up at Cedric and said, "Let's go."

"Stop right there! Who said that you could leave? Since he's already here, it's

about time we settle things," Donovan shouted.

His gaze at Cedric carried nothing but disdain. "I'll get straight to the point. You're not good enough for Noelle, so don't you even think about using her to climb the social ladder."

Noelle was extremely protective of Cedric and could not stomach Donovan insulting Cedric like that. "Donovan Liddell! This is none of your business!"

Cedric remained as calm as ever. He held onto Noelle's hand to reassure her that he was fine. Given what Donovan was saying, it was apparent that Donovan had no idea who he really was.

Cedric looked at Donovan and said, "Do you think that everyone is like you? Someone who uses women to climb the social ladder?"

Cedric's words thoroughly enraged Donovan, but Donovan could not even muster a reply for a long time.
