Chapter 1019
Chapter 1019:noveldrama
Despite his pitiful appearance, Hoyt shamelessly sat back down on the sofa.
He was purposely trying to provoke Kellan that day. He wanted his father to see how badly he was being treated.
But Kellan had run out of patience.
“Someone, get him out of here. We don’t want him ruining our home,” Kellan ordered.
He felt nothing but disgust for Brook’s illegitimate son. Not only were his tactics underhanded, but his constant power struggles had been foolish. If it hadn’t been for the things still in Brook Lloyd’s possession, Kellan would have dealt with him a long time ago.
The servants began to move towards Hoyt to escort him out.
But Hoyt just laughed, a cold and mocking sound.
“Kellan, you can try to throw me out, but you should check with Dad first,” he said, his grin widening.
He pulled out his phone and unlocked it, showing a message from Brook on the screen.
“Come to dinner at the Lloyd house tonight,” the message read.
It was simple, but its implication was clear, confirming Hoyt’s place. Kellan quickly scanned the message and finally understood why Hoyt had been acting so boldly.
“Want dinner?” Kellan asked, his smile calm and knowing.
Allison recognized that smile. It was the same one Kellan wore when he was about to deal with someone.
“Sure, that can be arranged,” Allison replied. “Someone, bring out the steak first so he can eat.”
“Yes, sir,” Jim responded.
Although Jim didn’t fully understand Kellan’s plan, he obeyed without question.
Soon, a sirloin steak was placed on the table, along with fine cutlery, dishes, and wine glasses. The setting was almost too formal, giving the atmosphere in the Lloyd house an even colder edge.
“Well, don’t mind if I do,” Hoyt said, taking his seat. He assumed Kellan was trying to humiliate him.
Hoyt carelessly sliced into the steak, continuing his mockery. “Our Lloyd family has such high standards. Ms. Clarke, I really wonder if you’ve been well-prepared for this. After all, no one would take a homeless orphan seriously,” he sneered.
There was a hint of jealousy in his voice. He and his mother had spent years trying to infiltrate the Lloyd family, only to fail.
“So what?” Allison responded sharply. “I don’t think a bastard is any better than an orphan. A bastard—along with their mother, a homewrecker—can hardly be recognized by their family. They live in the shadows, consumed with jealousy for those who walk in the sun.”
Her tone was biting, and she found his words laughable. “And those bastards try filthy tricks to get what they want. But you know what? Karma is real. Someone with a malicious heart usually ends up in tragedy,” she added.
