Chapter 1318
Chapter 1318:
A sharp, metallic taste crept up his throat. He tried to force it down like always, but this time, he couldn’t. A thick mouthful of blood spilled from his lips.
“Mr. Stevens!”
His assistant’s face drained of color. Panic gripped him.
Without wasting a second, he reached for his phone.
“I’m calling the doctor right now! You were diagnosed with stress-related organ damage. If you don’t get treatment soon…”noveldrama
The doctor gave a grim prognosis — Colton didn’t have much time left.
“No need. There’s no cure anyway.”
Colton’s voice was flat, emotionless.
He felt exactly as he had on the night he told Allison that he was going to divorce her and drove her away.
His heart had pounded just as violently back then, refusing to accept Allison, just as he had always pushed her away.
Now, his esophagus was torn, as if it bore the same fractures that had spread when her suitcase hit the floor that night.
Every rush of pain, every spike of adrenaline, dragged him through the same cycle — regret, but also powerlessness. This was his punishment.
“Allison and Kellan… Are they really getting married?” Colton’s voice was low and hoarse.
He was finally able to ask the burning question in his mind.
“Yes.” The assistant felt sorry for him, but he plowed ahead with some details he had obtained about the upcoming wedding. “According to the media, the wedding is set for next month.”
“I see. You can leave now.”
“Yes, Sir.”
The door clicked shut, and Colton was left alone in his office.
The thought of Allison getting married made him so sad.
But he was still her ex-husband… Should he offer his congratulations? Colton picked up the company phone. A part of him knew that there was no point in calling. No matter how many times he tried, she would never give him the time of day again.
So he was quite surprised when his call connected.
Allison seemed to have anticipated his call.
“You must have received our little present.”
Colton paused for a few seconds as the realization dawned on him.
“So, you were the one who sent me those photos and documents?”
“Well, to be precise, both Kellan and I sent them over. Together.” On the other side, Allison was trying on wedding shoes.
“With this, we don’t owe each other anything anymore. Don’t worry, I’ll make sure that someone looks after Keanu. I just hope that you won’t bother us again.”
She intended to hang up after saying that, but Colton seemed to have read her mind.
“Don’t hang up yet,” he pleaded in a rush, his voice dry and raspy.
“Allison, the Stevens Group is on the verge of bankruptcy.”
“That is no longer any of my business,” Allison replied without batting an eye.
“Like I said, we shouldn’t contact each other again from now on.”
