Chapter 428 Tangled Emotions and Lingering Marks
"Let's sleep a bit longer. The exhibition doesn't start until nine, and it's only just after seven," Nathaniel said, standing up and hugging Frey from behind.
Frey was furious.
He knew how important today's exhibition was, yet he still acted so carelessly. She couldn't keep fighting him, and she couldn't scold him.noveldrama
She wanted to escape, but she was his wife and had obligations to fulfill.
"I'm going to be late. I'll ask Koen to bring you some food later. You should keep sleeping. I have to meet with Sawyer and other company members before the exhibition starts," she said. "We need to prepare the design drafts and jewelry displays. Everything must be perfect."
"I don't have time. I have to go," Frey broke away from Nathaniel, got out of bed, quickly washed up, and changed into a suitable dress.
Nathaniel's arms suddenly felt empty, and he lay back on the bed, his expression turning sour.
She woke up early just to see Sawyer, didn't she?
Frey was too busy to worry about Nathaniel's fragile heart.
She dragged the box outside and started organizing.
After a while, she stood up and saw Nathaniel walking out in his pajamas.
Suppressing his anger, Nathaniel smiled softly, "Remember to eat well later. The hotel's food isn't great, but you should eat more. These meetings are usually very boring and long."
Frey nodded and applied light makeup in front of the mirror. She had always been good-looking, and after reconstructive surgery, her features were even more distinct.
Seeing Nathaniel standing in front of her, looking dejected, Frey felt a pang of guilt.
It was his fault last night, but now he looked like a forlorn puppy. She stood on tiptoes and kissed his strong, angular cheek, though the kiss was somewhat perfunctory.
"See you tonight! There might be a dinner, and I have to work late. See you tomorrow!"
Her half-hearted kiss made Nathaniel a little angry, but hearing that she might be busy all night, his panic resurfaced.
He couldn't stand the thought of her spending the whole night with Sawyer.
He grabbed Frey's arm, lifted her like a child, and bit her delicate white neck. "Nathaniel!" Frey exclaimed, "Are you a dog?"
After a gentle bite, he kissed the bright red mark he left on her neck, then put her down.
It was already eight o'clock, and it wasn't appropriate for Frey to change clothes.
The outfit matched her freshly styled hair. She angrily kicked Nathaniel, but it was like scratching an itch on his rough skin.
She hurriedly pulled a small silk scarf from her suitcase, wrapped it around her neck, glared at Nathaniel, and walked out.
Her room was not far from Sawyer's. As she reached the elevator, she saw Sawyer already inside.
Frey quickly stepped into the elevator, and an awkward silence filled the space. Finally, Frey spoke, "Sorry, I got up late this morning. I'll discuss those plans with yo@during dinner."
Sawyer smiled and nodded. He was very tall. Frey, feeling anxious, adjusted her silk scarf. Her milky white skin contrasted sharply with the red mark on her neck, a telltale sign of what happened last
night.
