The President’s Mistake A Tale of Love and Regret

Chapter 434 The Unseen Scandal

One day, a challenging customer in the store crossed the line and touched her inappropriately.

Lacking any influential connections abroad and without the safety net of a wealthy background, she felt powerless.

It was a difficult situation, but fortuitously, Sawyer, who she hadn't seen in months, happened to be in the store and stepped in to help her.

Gradually, she became Sawyer's trusted confidant, handling some of his less transparent financial dealings overseas.

Eventually, Sawyer brought her back to the country to establish a company that served as a front, with her responsible for liaising with Ms. Frey.

For over a year, she enjoyed working with Frey, appreciating her down-to-earth nature and straightforward approach.

Despite her fondness for both bosses, she found herself caught in an uncomfortable situation when Sawyer's jokes went too far, leading to tensions.

"Ms. Frey, Mr. Sawyer, you've had too much to drink. Let's get some fresh air and sober up!"

"Ms. Frey, why don't we grab some of those cakes? I'm feeling a bit peckish." While Sawyer chuckled, his heart was actually filled with irritation. It seemed her playful comments were starting to wear thin, and he decided to retreat.

"I'm sorry," he said, stepping back and bowing slightly. He then took a glass of wine from a passing waiter, avoiding any further interaction with Frey, and moved toward the crowded area of the event.

To Mandy, it felt like an impending disaster.

She awkwardly smiled at Frey and said, "Mr. Sawyer has a playful side. Please don't take it personally."

Frey, watching Sawyer walk away, replied coldly, "I don't appreciate it when boundaries are crossed."

Mandy was left speechless. Frey had made her feelings about Sawyer clear before.

Even without Nathaniel in the picture, she had no romantic interest in him. Her feelings were purely professional, tinged with a degree of wariness.

The minor confrontation went unnoticed by the rest of the event attendees. Mandy led Frey to the pastry area, where Frey indulged in her love for sweets. Mandy, puzzled by the disconnect between Frey's gentle demeanor and the current situation, struggled to understand where things had gone wrong.

The scene did, however, catch Nathaniel's attention when a photo made its way to him.

Koen, unsure of the photo's origin, showed it to Nathaniel.

The image taken from a tricky angle, showed Sawyer leaning close to Frey The photo was blurred and poorly lit, but its implications were clear.

Nathaniel's fingers tightened around his phone, his knuckles turning white from the strain.

He was currently holding an online conference in his apartment in Pontenero, managing the group's affairs in Saeville.

The renovation project for East Saeville was complex and demanding.

The city government's tender for the renovation of the old city had been awarded to Technologent Group.

Unlike new city developments, this project was fraught with complexity and required coordination with a multitude of stakeholders.

Nathaniel's days were consumed by the demands of this intricate project.

His focus was solely on work, as he did not want Frey to perceive him as a bothersome figure who was merely pursuing her for superficial reasons.

Despite his current preoccupation, Nathaniel understood that, given his status, he could attend the jewelry

needing a ticket, merely by spending money.

He was committed to learning everything about Frey, step by step, and making amends for past mistakes.

Yet, he often found himself feeling both aggrieved and uneasy. After all, wasn't it the Gomez family that had wronged him?
