Chapter 718
Jeanette felt herself unravel, her heart sinking into cold despair.
Citrine wasn't the quiet, withdrawn girl who used to swallow every injustice in silence. The person standing here now was dangerous-unpredictable, even a little unhinged.
Before long, Monica rushed in, clutching a first aid kit. "Citrine, I found it!"
Citrine immediately strode over and popped the kit open, efficiently laying out antiseptic, bandages, and everything else she'd need.
When she'd set it all out, she turned to Gorman, who was still standing there in a daze. Her voice was sharp with impatience. "Well? Are you coming over or not?"
"Me?" Gorman seemed momentarily at a loss.
Citrine's brow furrowed. “Is there anyone else here who's injured?"
She honestly couldn't understand how someone as shrewd as Gorman could be so clueless. She even wondered how he'd managed to turn the G Group into such a powerhouse on his own.
Staring at his already-bandaged hand, Gorman blinked in surprise, then shuffled sheepishly toward Citrine, as if he couldn't quite believe she was tending to him.noveldrama
Citrine didn't look at him-her focus was entirely on his hand.
"Give me your hand," she said quietly.
Gorman obediently held it out.
"I only stopped the bleeding earlier," Citrine explained as she unwound the bandage. "We need to clean this properly and re-wrap it to prevent infection." She dabbed his wound with antiseptic, staunched the blood, and then expertly dressed it again.
Gorman couldn't take his eyes off his sister, so lost in the moment he barely noticed when she finished.
It wasn't until Citrine spoke again that he snapped out of his trance.
"For the next few days, keep it dry and don't carry anything heavy. Let it heal."
He hadn't expected her to care like this-not after everything that had happened.
A gentle warmth spread through him. "Thank you, Citrine."
It had been years since he'd felt that kind of comfort-years since Citrine had vanished from his life.
The police arrived soon after.
"Who called this in?"
Wade stepped forward. "Officers, Jeanette just attacked someone with a knife."
"There were plenty of witnesses," he added. "We can all testify."
The officers frowned. "Which one is Jeanette?"
Jeanette's face was ashen as she

Without hesitation, the police approached Jeanette and snapped the cuffs on her wrists.
"Take her away," the lead officer said coldly.
Jeanette erupted, screaming and flailing like someone possessed. "It was Citrine Carmichael! She's the one who ruined me!"
"Settle down," one of the officers warned, his expression hard.
As the police prepared to escort Jeanette out, Citrine called after them.
"Officers, would you mind if I had a word with her first?"
The officers exchanged glances, then nodded their consent.
Citrine thanked them with a smile and approached Jeanette. Leaning in close, she murmured softly into her ear, "Oh, by the way, your
mother's currently lying low one line
Mirage Cay. Who knows how much longer she'll last there?"
Jeanette's eyes went wide. "You-"
Citrine cut her off, her tone almost playful. "Don't get worked up.”
She smiled, an edge in her voice. "I've already arranged everything for you inside.
I guarantee your time in prison will be... memorable."
Jeanette's face twisted in rage. "Citrine Carmichael, you're a monster."
Citrine just laughed, utterly at ease. "If I'm a monster, Jeanette, then what does
that make you and your mother?"
She didn't wait for a reply. "From now on, the nightmare begins the moment you step out of prison You never get another chance to mess with me again."
The police dragged Jeanette away soon after.
Citrine watched her go, a slow smile curving her lips.
What do you think?
