Josephine's heart dropped.

Panic set in when Ethan guessed her honest thoughts.

Ethan sighed. "If you've trained professionally, you could've told me that. Like you said, I would've accepted the loss.

"Why did you hide it, letting me act all confident in front of you, like a clown? I

even thought I was being nice by going easy on you."

He frowned sadly. "I must've looked like an idiot. Are you happy now?"

"I....."

Josephine was at a loss. She didn't know what to say.

It was true that she was messing with him, intending to see that embarrassed look on his face.

Now that she'd done it, she didn't feel an ounce of joy.

"I'm sorry, Ethan. I was wrong. I shouldn't have fooled you."

Ethan shook his head. "It's not entirely your fault. Perhaps you're tired of me

acting too confidently all the time.

"Maybe you're just trying to teach me a lesson. I get it. When I meet people I don't like, I would do the same thing."

"That's not it! I don't dislike you. I—"

Josephine tried to explain herself, but Ethan shook his head. "Maybe you didn't realize it yet."

With that, he stopped talking and continued walking away.

Josephine was rooted to the ground. She wanted to chase after him, but what was she going to tell him? All she could do was apologize repeatedly.

Now that he was still upset, he wouldn't forgive her.

Honestly, she realized she had crossed the line.

Thinking back about what happened that day. He had taken his own time to attend an audition with the production crew.

Then, he traveled all the way to her house to show her the audition footage.

Recently, Ethan had been treating her well. He would always show up and accompany her when she needed him.

Deep down, she had known that as the director, she had full control over whether he could act in the film. Which meant she controlled whether he could get close to the woman of his dreams.

He wouldn't dare go against her and offend her, more so hurt her.

That was why she could act recklessly without reserve!

In the end, she didn't take the car Ethan had prepared for her. Instead, she took a cab home.

After arriving, she sat down on the couch. Images of Ethan's fragile and wounded expression replayed in her mind, making her heart ache.

She decided to respect Ethan more and also apologize for her behavior properly.

Suddenly, she could hear Gloria talking to someone at the door. After a while, Mason walked in.

"You're here."

Whenever Mason was around, Josephine would feel relaxed. She didn't even get up and stayed seated, looking drained.

Mason didn't know what had

"Nadine has released a statement."

"A statement?" Josephine sat up immediately. "What's there to clarify? The evidence is solid."

Mason sighed. "She denied all evidence, stating that the chat logs were photoshopped. She claimed that she was framed."
