When They Beg, I Rise!

Chapter 493

Lemira couldn't help but burst into laughter when she heard those words.

She retorted, "I've never seen anyone as shamelessly brazen as you guys."

Evelina, trying to maintain her composure, said, "Even though I can't recall how many times the script has been edited, I was the one who came up with the initial idea and the direction of the plot. You can't just kick me to the curb now, can you?"

Lemira couldn't help but laugh again.

She looked around at her colleagues and said, "Did you all hear that? Evelina's so-called 'ideas' were all unusable. She opens her mouth once and expects to have her name on my screenplay."

Her colleagues were instantly infuriated.

"That's just shameless, claiming credit for the screenplay just like that."

"I've always heard that the Langstons treat their own sister poorly but favor an unrelated sister instead. Today, I've finally seen it for myself."

The colleagues, who had created countless 'innocent victim' characters, were all too familiar with these tactics.

Evelina stammered in response, "That's not it. I really did contribute to the screenplay."

"If you really have evidence, just show the drafts you contributed to. No need to play the sympathy card here."

Evelina was at a loss for words because she had no drafts to show.noveldrama

She could only look towards Asher.

Asher was also furious. He glared at Caspian, "Don't think bringing Lemira here will change anything. I've already decided to hand over the management of the company to Evelina. You better take some time off and wait for this to blow over." With just a word, Asher, the major shareholder, decided Caspian's fate.

A smug look flashed in Evelina's eyes as she said to Caspian, "Caspian, rest assured, I'll manage the company well. If I encounter anything I don't understand, I'll still consult you."

Lemira scoffed, "The company has always been run by Caspian. Evelina, someone who couldn't even score on her SATS, probably can't even understand the company's ledgers, let alone manage a company."

Asher felt embarrassed, "Lemira, you're just a playwright; you don't understand company management either. From now on, your scripts will need to pass Eve's review."

Evelina's smile widened, basking in her apparent victory over Lemira, the playwright.

Evelina intentionally said to Lemira,

"Lemmy, I know you're quite the

talent when it comes to writing scripts, but don't forget the company's role in nurturing that talent. I hope you'll write even better scripts in the future, or the company might not be so lenient."

Evelina leaned closer to Lemira, lowering her voice, "No matter how much you

struggle, you won't win against me."

Lemira pushed the 'innocent victim' away.

She coldly said, "Those scripts were

all Caspian begging me to write because of their quality, which got them fast-tracked into production not because of any 'leniency'. I told you, you know nothing about running a company, but you wouldn't believe me."

Caspian also stepped forward to clarify, "That's right, I did indeed beg Lemira to write those scripts. Even though she's a newcomer, everyone can see her talent."

"But without the company, a playwright's scripts are just paper!"

Evelina couldn't stand Caspian defending Lemira like this.

Hearing this, Lemira laughed out loud, "Did everyone hear that? We playwrights are just paper, according to her."

Evelina's words had angered everyone!

Realizing her mistake, Evelina quickly tried to clarify, "That's not what I meant. I was talking about Lemira, not everyone."

Someone couldn't stand it anymore and snapped, "Mr. Asher, are you letting an outsider run the company because you think it's not going bankrupt fast enough?" Asher looked at Evelina with disappointment. What a fool!
