Chapter 272
"I-I-no, no-Rachel and Xander are meant to be together! Isabel is the one who butts into their relationship!" Vernon stammered, raising his voice to try to assert himself.
Chapter 272 He Couldn't Retort
"Heh!" Yvette scoffed, "What a joke. Rachel and Xander are meant to be? Who said that?"
"Rubbish! Fate's not something that can be forced. Xander chose his wife himself. He's not out there picking wives for everyone else, and you're not the one that living their life. Really, you've got too much time on your hands, worrying about other people's business!" Yvette rolled her eyes, annoyed.
"Everyone can see it!" Vernon shouted, trying to sound convincing.
"You-how can you speak so crudely!" Vernon yelled, his face flushed with anger and embarrassment.
Before Vernon could even finish his shout, Max grabbed him by the collar.
"You dare to yell at my wife? I wouldn't even think of treating her that way. Who do you think you are?" Max growled.
Yvette, watching Max stand in front of her, protecting her, couldn't help but pout, her eyes gleaming with amusement.
"Look, Mr. Max. You can't blame me, but her language is pretty rough. Rubbish, for example-" Vernon began, but Max interrupted him by lifting him off the ground by his collar.
"Rough? Where's the roughness? You know nothing! That's called being straightforward. Not like some scheming women, acting one way in front of others and another behind their backs. I like her the way she is honest, direct, and real. What's the problem? You've finished meddling in Xander and Isabel's business, now you want to butt in on ours? Just like my wife said, you're just a busybody. You're still single-why don't you handle your own life first?"
With both husband and wife against him, Vernon was no match for Max and Yvette. He quickly realized he was defeated.noveldrama
Vernon glanced at Xander and Isabel, then at Max and Yvette, and suddenly, the scolding cleared his mind.
"Yeah, they're all a couple of happy pairs. It's their lives, not mine. I'm not their parent-why do I care so much?" The smell of grilled meat wafted through the air, growing stronger and more appetizing.
Many people started walking over to the barbecue in front of Isabel.
"Cough, cough-Xander, this meat looks really good!" Oscar Aguilar said, swallowing as he eyed the food.
Xander nodded, a proud smile on his face. "My wife is an excellent cook. I'm lucky to have her."
Oscar was speechless.
"Can I try some-?"
"Too bad, you won't get to taste it," Xander replied firmly.
"Ahem-We're all friends here. It
won't hurt if I have a little piece, right?" Oscar said, nearly losing his willpower to resist the delicious smell.
"Yes, it will hurt," Xander replied, cutting him off.
"Come on, it's not that big of a deal, is it?" Oscar protested.

Xander squinted, fixing his gaze on Oscar. "I remember you insulting my wife earlier."
Oscar felt a pang of regret. He had heard the harsh words Max and Yvette had thrown at Vernon earlier, and now he was regretting his behavior.
"I owe Ms. Zimmerman an apology," Oscar said, looking at Isabel with genuine sincerity. "I didn't mean to offend you. I apologize."
Isabel raised an eyebrow, her gaze both amused and cunning, a playful glint in her eyes. "Want to get a bite?"
"It smells so good. Can I try?" Oscar swallowed again, his desire obvious.
"Sure, I'm not someone who holds grudges. Besides, you only insulted me once," Isabel shrugged with a smile.
"That's great! Ms. Zimmerman, you
are generous, just like Xander said. No wonder he's with you." Oscar grinned, eager to grab a piece of meat. .
But as he speared a piece with his fork and raised it to his mouth, Isabel slapped it out of his hand before he could take a bite.
Isabel raised an eyebrow, her gaze both amused and cunning, a playful glint in her eyes. "Want to get a bite?"
