Flora’s Guide to a Second Chance at Love and Life

Chapter 1769

Fiona had a bit of a clue about it, but she didn't really give it much thought. The Larkin family's internal drama was kept under wraps, but that didn't mean Josie wouldn't handle it in her own way.

Just as Fiona was about to catch some Z's after hanging up the phone, Jane barged in, pulling back Fiona's bed curtain and tossing her an invitation that looked just like Tyler's.noveldrama

"Here, this is for you," Jane said, her voice dripping with irritation. Even with the curtain as a barrier, Fiona could feel the tension radiating from Jane.

"No thanks," Fiona replied, gently pushing Jane's hand away. She hadn't gotten to the bottom of the invitation mystery yet, and since she already had a genuine one, there was no point in taking Jane's counterfeit.

Besides, what was Jane really up to by giving her this invitation now? Was it some ploy to see Fiona embarrass herself, or was she just playing messenger for Josie?

"Fiona, don't be so ungrateful. I'm doing you a favor with this invitation. Do you think these things just grow on trees? This one's not cheap, you know. Who do you think you are?" Jane snapped. She ripped the curtain aside and glared at Fiona. "You think just anyone can get one of these? If we weren't sharing a dorm, I wouldn't even bother!"

Fiona chuckled softly, choosing not to engage directly. Instead, she pulled a genuine, gold-embossed invitation from under her pillow and laid it right in front of Jane. "I appreciate the thought, but I don't need it. No matter why you're offering it, you must know Josie has two kinds of invitations, right?"

Jane's face went pale as she noticed the gold embossing on Fiona's invitation wasn't the handiwork of her family. Her eyes shot to Amy, who was lounging on her bed, casually munching on a bag of chips, seemingly unfazed by the unfolding drama.

"Amy, what's your angle here?" Jane fumed. "The Kidd family isn't supposed to share this gold-embossing secret, and now you're just handing out this prized invitation to Fiona? Are you trying to make the Kidd family look bad?"

Jane hurled her invitation to the floor and stormed over to Amy, grabbing her by the collar in anger. "You know what these two types of invitations signify. Aren't you worried the Larkin family will come after us?"

At first, Fiona didn't quite get what Jane was playing at, but now it all clicked.

According to Jane, Josie had indeed commissioned two sets of invitations. The ones made by the Gregory family were reserved for top-tier families like those in the States, while the others were for wealthy merchants. Even with Jane's ties to Josie, she couldn't snag a Gregory family-made invitation.

It seemed there was more to it than just the Kidd family lacking the Gregory family's craftsmanship. Jane must have had a run-in with JosieOver this, or she wouldn't have blown up over Fiona's invitation and lashed out at Amy.

Jane, seeing Amy remain silent, grew even more furious and knocked the chips right out of Amy's hand.
