Chapter 1824
Just then, a man and a woman, who'd been eavesdropping at the door, barged into the office. They were the other two who had signed the contract with Fiona. They hadn't heard the full conversation, but from Vincent's current state, it was clear Jackson had mostly shot down the deal.
"Jackson, what are you doing? Holden's part of the Kensington family. Aren't you worried about Grandpa Kensington's reaction? The three of us are elders of the Kensington family. Are you trying to embarrass the whole family?" The woman from the Kensington family shot Jackson a cold glare. But for some reason, seeing his expression, a flicker of fear crept into her heart.
When Jackson stayed silent, her apprehension only grew.
"Enough talk! We need to get Holden to a hospital. If we wait any longer, he might lose that hand," the man huffed, tugging the Kensington woman away. Before leaving, he threw a glance back at Jackson and warned, "You'll regret this."
Jackson couldn't care less. He stood up, dusted off his clothes, and walked past the trio with a dismissive look before exiting the office.
The three exchanged confused glances, clueless about what Jackson was thinking.
They knew the priority was to get Vincent to the hospital. But they were also anxious about whether Jackson would tell Grandpa Kensington about their secret contract with International Glam.
Grandpa Kensington was famously unpredictable, and they didn't dare guess how he would react.
After leaving, Jackson went to find Kimberly. Kimberly had managed to buy a tiny amount of shares from other Kensington family members, though altogether they were less than one percent. Still, every bit counted.
Moreover, Kimberly had recently dug up some clues about past events that Jackson needed to check out.
At the Kensington family estate:
Kimberly and Jackson sat across from each other. Kimberly slid a copy of a sales contract over to Jackson. Then, she pulled up the signature on her computer.
In no time, Jackson spotted Vincent's and his father's names on the contract.noveldrama
The contract also mentioned the
Kidd family, the Gregory family, the Bryant family, and the Stonnell family, but it didn't specify what the contract was for.
Years of wear and tear had almost completely obscured the text.
"Is there any way to restore it?" Jackson asked calmly, though urgency quivered in his voice.
Kimberly had thought of that, but she had already consulted many experts, and no one could restore it.
"The paper was soaked in a special
solution after it was signed. Over time, even the best document- restoration experts can't fix it," Kimberly said, shaking her head with
a touch of helplessness in her voice.
Jackson clenched his fists and slammed them onto the table. Just when they had
a lead, it turned into another dead end.
"Jackson, don't lose hope. If the
Kensington family, the Stonnell family, the Kidd family, the Gregory family, and the Bryant family were all involved back then, it must have been significant. No matter how
tough, we have a direction to pursue," Kimberly said, her voice steady as she placed a reassuring hand on Jackson's.
What do you think?
