Revenge Of The Jilted Bride (Ophelia)

Chapter 127

Chapter 127

Ophelia still had tears on her face. Her eyes were red as she immediately followed. Under the bright lights in the ambulance, she finally saw Scott's pale face and where he was injured. He was stabbed in the back.

Scott was put on a ventilator, his wound still bleeding, with the doctors and nurses working efficiently to save him and treat the Injury. Ophelia clenched her palms tightly, not even realizing her nails were digging into her skin.

"Tick-tock... Tick-tock..." As various machines beeped she saw the faint movements on the heart monitor. Ophelia excitedly clutched Kenneth's arm. "He still has a heartbeat. He's still breathing..." Her eyes were filled with hope, and tears rolled down her cheeks to her chin.

"Yeah." Kenneth wrapped his arm around her shoulders, gently wiping away her tears. She kept her eyes fixed on the monitor's movements, fearful of blinking in case it was all just an illusion.

"It's urgent to get to the hospital immediately. Which family member will come along?"

Ophelia was about to follow without a word, but Kenneth stopped her, "The ambulance can't be too crowded. Let's get back to our car. We'll follow behind."

She nodded rapidly and obediently got into the car. Her gaze fixed on the ambulance. Kenneth gave a quick instruction and accompanied her to the nearest hospital.

Scott was wheeled into the emergency room, and Ophelia followed up to the door, her view blocked by the blue curtains.

In the long hospital corridor, Ophelia's thin shadow seemed even more slender. She sat down on the bench, her eyes fixed on one spot, her face emotionless.

Time ticked by slowly. In her view, a pair of pointed leather shoes appeared. Kenneth slowly squatted down, took off her high heels, and replaced them with flat shoes.

"I've asked Lisa to bring you some clothes. Go change in the car. I've got this. Seeing her tear-streaked face and those watery eyes, he furrowed his brows with heart aching, gently brushing her cheek with his thumb.

"If I died, you probably wouldn't cry this hard." As soon as he said it, Kenneth regretted it as the girl in front of him looked up, tears starting to spill out.

He was suddenly at a loss. He was just joking. Just as he was about to explain, a soft little figure jumped into his arms. Ophelia clung to him and bit hard on his shoulder. "Don't you ever say that again!"

Her voice was thick with emotion; she was scared, truly scared. She didn't want anyone near her to leave. "Kenneth, if you dare to die, I'll remarry and let the grass grow on your grave!"

"Alright, I won't die. Even if I do, I'll wait until after you." Kenneth pulled her into his arms, softly rubbing her back to comfort her. He thought, 'What was intended to comfort only made her cry even more?' Ophelia thought, Wasn't this just how it happened before? When I died, he followed me out of grief! "No, nobody can die," she cried.

"We won't die, neither of us will..." Kenneth was at a loss as she cried, feeling the fear in her. He thought. She wasn't as indifferent as she appeared. She feared losing more than anyone else.

The best way not to lose anything is never to get it in the first place, so she kept a cool exterior while secretly helping everyone around her.

'Even someone like Eric, she'd risk her life to protect him. How could she not care for Scott who always treated her like family?' An hour later, the emergency room opened, and Ophelia quickly stood up, her face returning to its usual calm demeanor. But the trembling of her shoulders gave her away.

"The patient has lost a lot of blood, causing traumatic shock. Emergency procedures have been performed. The nerve functions can recover, but the brain tissue damage is permanent. You must mentally prepare for this."

Ophelia thought, 'Mentally prepare? These words hit Ophelia like a ton of bricks.

*The patient might suffer severe long-term effects or even become comatose. The doctor's words were like a bolt from the blue, almost causing her to lose her balance. Fortunately, Kenneth quickly held her shoulder.

After saying those words, the doctor suddenly felt a chill run down his neck. He looked up and met Kenneth's gaze, which seemed ready to devour him whole. If looks could kill, he would probably be dead a hundred times over.

"I just mentioned the worst-case scenario. Modern medical technology is very advanced, and there are cases where patients in a vegetative state have woken up. Besides, the patient's vital signs are stable now; we need a few days to make sure."

Ophelia nodded, "Understood. Please arrange a private room for him."

Without any expression, she looked through the glass window at the young man with a respirator Inside, unable to accept such an outcome. After a moment, a cold glint appeared in her eyes.

*****

It was just past 2 AM. Ophelia arrived at the Westoira Reservoir again, entering the warehouse. The bloodstains on the ground had dried, and several men were tied up and thrown together.

Caleb had various torturous methods, leaving these men with no choice but to tell the truth.

"Malam, they say they're just debt collectors. They took three people, but when we got there, only the boy was left. These guys Injured someone and planned to flee after dealing with it," Caleb said.

"We didn't hurt anyone! We're just here to collect debts. Why would we hurt anyone..." The man on the ground kept repeating. Ophelia squinted slightly, "Three people?" She imagined, Wasn't it only supposed to be Heather and Scott?'

"Yes, and also Emily" Caleb replied.

"Emily," Ophelia murmured the name, and the chill in her eyes deepened. She took the gun from Caleb's hand, and aimed at the man huddled on the ground, and the sound of the bullet being loaded was especially clear in the night.

"Bang!" The bullet struck one of the men's kneecaps. "Aaah-" The scream echoed throughout the mountains.

"I want to hear what happened," Ophelia said calmly, looking at them as if they were already dead.

"Ma'am, have mercy! We tied them up, thinking they couldn't escape, so we went to eat. Who would have thought someone would die by the time we got back... We really don't know what happened!"noveldrama

'Is that true? Ophelia thought to herself.

"Ma'am, the surveillance here was destroyed. I've already had someone take it to be restored," Caleb said.

Those guys clearly didn't expect the surveillance to be recoverable, and they glanced around nervously. Ophelia reloaded her pistol and shot another person in the leg. "I want the truth!" she demanded.

The men on the ground were panicking. At that moment, they were completely convinced that this woman would kill them.

Looking into her eyes, filled with murderous intent, they could no longer endure the terrifying pressure. "We'll talk..." they stammered.
